Nancy St. Claire, LMHC, LPC is a seasoned licensed counselor with 25+ years experience supporting individuals in their healing journey. She has served in a wide variety of direct care and managerial settings. Committed to the mind-body connection, she has training in holistic practices and recognizes multiple pathways to recovery. Her culmination of professional and lived experience led to opening a private practice. She is licensed and able to work with individuals in Florida, Texas, and Arizona.
Clinical Experience: Nancy's career has been dedicated to primarily serving in non-profit settings focused on supporting underserved populations. She completed her internship at the Tucson Rape Crisis Center and at a community mental health center on the Arizona – Mexico border. Experienced in providing counseling in non-profit and private practice settings and conducting psych evaluations in Emergency Departments. Background includes individual counseling for ages 18+, intakes and assessments, specialty in PTSD treatment, historic and generational trauma, military-affiliated populations, women's issues, depression, anxiety, substance use - recovery, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), court-ordered populations, coping skills, communication skills and boundary setting, transitions, and cultural adjustment.
Mental Health Administrative Experience: Nancy served in a wide variety of mental health administrative positions. As a director, she oversaw services for adult populations in Arizona and investigated 100s of critical incidents / mortalities and instituted corrective actions. For seven years, Ms. St. Claire acted as the Chief Operating Officer for a military-centered mental health non-profit, Give an Hour, where she received an award from the White House (Joining Forces Community Challenge), Points of Light Foundation, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and University of Phoenix. For 3.5 years, Nancy provided oversight of community-based substance use centers and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) programs in a 23-county catchment in northeast Florida. She is a subject matter expert in opioid use disorder (OUD), MAT, and harm reduction strategies and was appointed in 2023 by the Jacksonville (Florida) City Council to the Opioid and Substance Use Disorder committee.
Cultural Anthropology / Military Experience: In addition to having a master’s degree in clinical counseling, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology with a focus on ethnographic (cultural) studies. Serving as a civilian cultural advisor, Nancy was embedded with a Brigade Combat Team in Iraq for seven months in 2008-2009. While conducting sociocultural fieldwork, she accompanied soldiers on over a 100 missions "outside the wire," including infantry units, military transition teams, police transition teams, and military police. Through this experience, she gained a profound respect for service members and the sacrifices they make. Nancy also served in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and is a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. As the Chief Operating Officer of Give an Hour, she partnered with numerous military organizations and was a frequently requested speaker at local, state, and national events.
